"will you marry me?"

Today was the wonderful day 2 years ago that i said yes to my husband when he proposed marriage to me. I really wanted to go to the spot where he proposed and take a picture. Call me nutty but the reason i wanted it today was the date marker on the photo. i know i can cheat and change the date on the camera but i wanted a picture for a trip down memory lane activity. To celebrate i want to record what happened on that day 2 years ago. I don't think i wrote it down anywhere else. oops!
March 8, 2008
Cory and I had been dating 3 months on the 8th. He had been having a hard time getting a hold of my dad to ask for my hand. Cory had got a hold of my dad's cell phone number and tried calling him that day. My dad had to work on a client at the last minute and forgot his phone at home. Cory called me and asked what i was doing and when i was going to head in to twin falls where we were going to have our date. I said "my brothers decided to come with me but i have to go pick up my brother who is with my dad and drop his phone off because someone tried calling him." Cory didn't know that i had programmed his phone number into my dad's phone at my dad's request in case he had to ever call him. so when cory called him the 1st time i saw his name on the caller id. so i got ready and as i got ready i got 6 text messeges from cory asking when i was leaving, had i left yet, what time i was getting to twin falls, am i in twin falls yet? by the 6th text messege i was thinking that cory is acting really strange. (I usually got to twin when ever and then we would go on a date. I usually took my brothers to twin and they would go to the mall or the movies and take the car and i would go with cory. ) so with my brothers in tow we were running late. I told cory that i would be there at noon. it was now 11 and it took 45 min to get there. we went to go pick up my brother from my dad's office and cory was still texting me where i was. I finally texted him back and said we were leaving. After i did that my brother said he forgot something and ran back inside. I put the car back in park and waited. Just then Cory came right around the corner! What was he doing here?!@ Once he saw me i could just read his expression,"oh great". My brothers saw too. Cory came to my door and said "I'll just see you in twin" and went down to my dad's office. My brothers all got out of the car and ran after him! when they all got back in the car they all started asking if cory was going to propose. I just said i don't want to think about it. Some how Cory got to twin before me and i left first. i gave the boys my car and i went with cory. he said that we were going geocashing. "treasure hunting" so we turned on the gps and started driving around according to where it said to go. we got within 1/2 a mile of the spot when it said we were close. cory asked if i wanted to walk the rest of the way to it. The walk was pretty! We came to this spot that look like it was carved out of the side of the canyon. It had a water fall that was fozen over and it honestly looked like we came to a ice city. cory who gave me the gps from the start because i had never used one asked how much further to go. it started to get confused. almost like i was right on top of it. so i started looking for a box or a canister or something. I looked everywhere and i didn't notice that cory wasn't helping me. I finally found the canister that was down in a hole. inside was a note that was rolled up. around the scroll was a huge ring that looked like a candy ring. I read the note which was from cory telling me how much he loved and cared for me. I looked back at him to smile and he was down on one knee holding an open ring box with a beautiful ring inside. I was still kneeling on the ground and he said that i had to stand up for this part. He asked me to marry him and I immediately said yes. We walked back up to the car both on cloud nine!

Who gave him a cookie?!

I had a special request to make Chocolate Chip Cookies on Sunday from my husband. So i made them because he rarely asks for anything. Sometimes I hesitate making sweets because I know that Cory will eat them right off the cooling rack, even the cookie dough out of the bowl! That used to make me mad but now it's just cute. At least he likes my cooking. Have I mentioned the "begging wall"? Every time i'm in the kitchen Deven knows that i'm making some kind of food. So he stands at the kitchen/living room/deven proof fence and watches me work. some times i'll give him food while he stand there. he did this while i was making cookies. Cory asked if Deven could have one. I had already made some smaller cookies for Deven to eat. and look at the result! it was so cute i had to take some pictures. At least i know that my son loves my cooking too!

The McEwen Adventure

Last Saturday the majority of the McEwen's went Dog Sledding! It's a family hobby. Man it was so much fun! Cory was excited that he got to take some of my brother-in-law's dogs out for a run. He was like fish to water again. I got to hear all the old stories what it was like growing up doing this. While Cory, my brother-in-law and mother-in-law ran the dogs to take the edge off of them, me and my sister-in-laws all played with the kids. I was excited for Deven because this would be his first time playing in the snow. He didn't really liked being bundled up with multiple layers... but after a while he got used to it. I took some pictures of the some of the stuff he wore. His grandma McEwen found some long underwear. I thought it would be a perfect time to wear it. So anyway, we took sleds and slid down hills, we played in the snow. Deven loved looking and taking to the psycho dogs. Did you know that these dogs know when they are going to go for a run? Before the run they have a ton of energy built up. It's crazy! Then as soon as you get going on the sled they are quiet! When cory told me this when we were dating, I didn't believe him until he actually took me on a sled. He says they are real athletes. Which makes sense to me. I remember going to track and cross county meets and sort of seeing the same thing. Cory took me and Deven out for a ride. I wish I would have taken my camera on the ride. but i was holding Deven. After all the dogs were good to go, I took all of the kids and warmed them up in the truck. we snacked on food and had lunch. Amy my sister-in-law challenged me later that i should start a snowball fight with my younger sister-in-law jessi. She had been wanting to start one all day. We really got into in. Then Cory came and white washed us both! me the most! We are definitely a winter family. I would rather it be cold and bundle up than it be hot trying to cool off. Plus there are always ways to warm up. Hot Coco, a fire place, warm blanket, snuggling with my husband; and i know he will always warm me up.
