All day yesterday Deven and Cassie were talking and planning to roast hotdogs and make smores. I told them that we would ask daddy to see if we could do that for Family Home Evening. I couldn't see why we couldn't seeing how I had all the ingredients. Only a small issue; I only had the mini marshmallows. So I made a side salad to go with hotdogs and we were set. We brought all the stuff outside to the fireplace and Cory started the fire. While he was doing that I quickly went to the store to get marshmallows that we could work with.
Cory told me when I was gone stuff happened. Cory cheated and used "Boy Scout Water" to light the fire. He wanted to hurry and get some good coals. After he got the fire going he thought it would be cool to have music for us to listen to. He found some camp songs on his phone. Our wifi is only good in our house. So Cory went as close to the window as he could. While Cory was doing that Deven, wanting be like daddy, grabbed the lighter fluid and sprayed it on the fire. I bet his eyes got huge! Cory came over and gave Deven a swat and talked to him. "I told you to not to touch the lighter fluid. What did you do?" "Touch" I bet he is not going to do that again. He probably will.
We had fun cooking our food. Allie loved the songs that Cory had on his phone. She was bouncing away and singing to the songs. She showed us a new way to eat smores. She showed us that all a smore really is, is a homemade oreo. When she eats oreos she eats the middle first and slowly nibbles at the cookie. That is exactly what she did. She ate the marshmallow and licked all the chocolate off the cookies.
Our dog Neve new something related to food was going on when we all came outside. We had to put Neve in his kennel because he's a big dog. Allie is not sure about him yet. He tries so hard to show that he is friendly. I think it's because he is a big dog and she is a small girl. I told Neve that we would save a hotdog for him for going into the kennel for Allie's sake. Cassie had fun feeding him.
Deven thought when I told him we were going to go roast hotdogs that we were going to go camping. He said, "Ok when we go camping we need to take our stuff with us." I told him that we were not going camping just going to the backyard. He thought that was even better. He's so cute. He also thought that since we were around a campfire roasting hotdogs and marshmallows and we had to tell spooky stories. I smiled at that comment. I told him that we didn't have to but Cory jumped all over that idea. Cory told in a spooky story voice a story that made Neve the hero. Deven wasn't believing it until we showed him "proof". The story was about a bear that came into our yard and Neve chased him off. We have a stone that has a bear track on it that we put in the firepit ground. Deven loves it. He likes to put his foot right on top of it to see how much smaller his foot is to the bears'. So he knew what Cory was talking about when he mentioned it. I could just see the cogs turning in his head after that. 'Did that really happen?' was written all over his face.
I wish that I had pictures but I didn't think that they would turn up. So writing down the memories is what I have to preserve that moment in our lives.

Sorry I've been gone for a while. I've been super busy! So I changed my background which I love! and decided to do an update that is 3 months long over due. The reason why I was so busy was I was going to school part time. The semester ended last week. I've been going to school straight since last april. I decided for the next semester I need to slow down to one class and then pick back up after that. I'm so close! I need to keep going. I almost feel like I've lost my momentum.
Besides doing homework, I've been making cards like crazy. I wish I could have done more. I think I have done a card or a crafty item every day since the semester let out. During school I think I did one once a week or less. Here is one I did yesterday. I haven't posted it on my other blog yet. I'm going to stretch myself and make a video of me doing a similar card as a tutorial to see if it is something I like. You can check it out on my other blog later today: http://www.tawnysdesigns.blogspot.com/ What do you think?
I almost forgot! my brothers came home from their missions!! It feels so unreal that they are home. I'm so proud of them because when they gave their talks on sunday I realized that they had grown up and became men.

Let's see, what else have I been doing? Oh yeah I cut my hair. I had to because cassie kept pulling on it and it was making my head, neck, and back hurt. We went to Yellowstone. I went there when I was in my early teens and didn't remember much. We went camping up there. It was so much fun! Deven loved it! Cassie was just along for the ride.Oh man can you believe that she is 5 months? Time has just flown by! She is getting so big. Have I mentioned that we nicknamed her Sassy? Because that is how she is. If it's not her way, it's the highway. But she is so cute! And deven loves her. She thinks that he is fascinating. She wants so much to run after her brother and play with him. Deven wants this too. So much so that I have to watch him because he doesn't know how to play with her. Fun stuff huh? I need to get some new pictures of my growing family.

fell behind
yes i fell behind in my blog. some one told me if i don't continue to record my history i will forget the tiny details that made the event funny/sad/happy/important. since then i've tried to be better at recording. but...with a screaming toddler that gets into everything, it's kind of hard. so i decided instead of posting a dozen up dates i'm going to categorize it. pictures i took will help out.
This month:
Deven created several messes...
This one i allowed. because i had some quick house work that had to be done. but i some what regretted it because his face went from potato santa to the abominable toddler. he got a bath on this one.
Then we got into BLUE licorice! sticky all over!
Deven found an old phone book and I thought he would just thumb through the pages, nope! I now have a Tasmanian devil!
We also experimented on hair cuts. I did some fancy braids when my hair was wet to see what i would look like with a perm again. i think the hair ladies would do a better job. Deven got a crew cut. so did his daddy.
Deven got to see his 1st movie in the theaters! he was so excited in there! it was the perfect movie to start him on.

"will you marry me?"
Today was the wonderful day 2 years ago that i said yes to my husband when he proposed marriage to me. I
really wanted to go to the spot where he proposed and take a picture. Call me nutty but the reason i wanted it today was the date marker on the photo. i know i can cheat and change the date on the camera but i wanted a picture for a trip down memory lane activity. To celebrate i want to record what happened on that day 2 years ago. I don't think i wrote it down anywhere else. oops!

Cory and I had been dating 3 months on the 8th. He had been having a hard time getting a hold of my dad to ask for my hand. Cory had got a hold of my dad's cell phone number and tried calling him that day. My dad had to work on a client at the last minute and forgot his phone at home. Cory called me and asked what i was doing and when i was going to head in to twin falls where we were going to have our date. I said "my brothers decided to come with me but i have to go pick up my brother who is with my dad and drop his phone off because someone
tried calling him." Cory didn't know that i had programmed his phone number into my dad's phone at my dad's request in case he had to ever call him. so when cory called him the 1st time i saw his name on the caller id. so i got ready and as i got ready i got 6 text messeges from cory asking when i was leaving, had i left yet, what time i was getting to twin falls, am i in twin falls yet? by the 6th text messege i was thinking that cory is acting really strange. (I usually got to twin when ever and then we would go on a date. I usually took my brothers to twin and they would go to the mall or the movies and take the
car and i would go with cory. ) so with my brothers in tow we were running late. I told cory that i would be there at noon. it was now 11 and it took 45 min to get there. we went to go pick up my brother from my dad's office and cory was still texting me where i was. I finally texted him back and said we were leaving. After i did that my brother said he forgot something and ran back inside. I put the car back in park and waited. Just then Cory came right around the corner! What was he doing here?!@ Once he saw me i could just read his expression,"oh great". My brothers saw too. Cory came to my door and said "I'll just see you in twin" and went down to my dad's office. My brothers all got out of the car and ran after him! when they all got back in the car they all started asking if cory was going to propose. I just said i don't want to think about it. Some how Cory got to twin before me and i left first. i gave the boys my car and i went with cory. he said that we were going geocashing. "treasure hunting" so we turned on the gps and started driving around according to where it said to go. we got within 1/2 a mile of the spot when it said we were close. cory asked if i wanted to walk the rest of the way to it. The walk was pretty! We came to this spot that look like it was carved out of the side of the canyon. It had a water fall that was fozen
over and it honestly looked like we came to a ice city. cory who gave me the gps from the start because i had never used one asked how much further to go. it started to get confused. almost like i was right on top of it. so i started looking for a box or a canister or something. I looked everywhere and i didn't notice that cory wasn't helping me. I finally found the canister that was down in a hole. inside was a note that was rolled up. around the scroll was a huge ring that looked like a candy ring. I read the note which was from cory telling me how much he loved and cared for me. I looked back at him to smile and he was down on one knee holding an open ring box with a beautiful ring inside. I was still kneeling on the ground and he said that i had to stand up for this part. He asked me to marry him and I immediately said yes. We walked back up to the car both on cloud nine!

The McEwen Adventure
Last Saturday the majority of the McEwen's went Dog Sledding! It's a family
hobby. Man it was so much fun! Cory was excited that he got to take some of my brother-in-law's dogs out for a run. He was like fish to water again. I got to
hear all the old stories what it was like growing up doing this. While Cory, my brother-in-law and mother-in-law ran the dogs to take the edge off of them, me and my sister-in-laws all played with the kids. I was excited for Deven because this would be his first time playing in the snow. He didn't really liked being bundled up with multiple layers... but after a while he got used to it. I took some pictures of the some of the stuff he wore. His grandma McEwen found some long
underwear. I thought it would be a perfect time to wear it. So anyway, we took sleds and slid down hills, we played in the snow. Deven loved looking and taking to the psycho dogs. Did you know that these dogs know when they are going to go for a run? Before the run they have a ton of energy built up. It's crazy! Then as soon
as you get going on the sled they are quiet! When cory told me this when we were dating, I didn't believe him until he actually took me on a sled. He says they are real athletes. Which makes sense to me. I remember going to track and cross county meets and sort of seeing the same thing. Cory took me and Deven out for a ride. I wish I would have taken my camera on the ride. but i was holding Deven. After all the dogs were good to go, I took all of the kids and warmed them
up in the truck. we snacked on food and had lunch. Amy my sister-in-law challenged me later that i
should start a snowball fight with my younger sister-in-law jessi. She had been wanting to start one all day. We really got into in. Then Cory came and white washed us both! me the most! We are definitely a winter family. I would rather it be cold and bundle up than it be hot trying to cool off. Plus there are always ways to warm up. Hot Coco, a fire place, warm blanket, snuggling with my husband; and i know he will always warm me up.

terrible
I think that i'm the most terrible person in writing things down! I've had this for a while and i havn't been able to keep up with it. so i left everyone hanging. last you saw i was pregnant. my baby is no longer small. he's 10 months. 11 months in a couple of days! yay!!! we're excited for him to see christmas traditions. ie: lights, presents, ect. He's already gotten into the tree and is in awe of the pretty lights. We took him down to Temple Square to see the lights. that was amazing for him. he didn't have enough eyes to look at it all. constantly turning his head. i thought he would get whiplash. Cory and I are still trying to figure out what to get him for christmas. since his birthday is so close to christmas we have to figure that out too. We are thinking of a new carseat for his birthday since he will be able to be faced forward. he's hating it now. his legs are too long for his bucket infant seat. i can already see now that we are going to have a tall kid.
