Coupons!

So I have a new hobby/obsession. Is obsession too strong? you decide. I have been getting tired of the large sum of money we've been shelling out for groceries. My sister-in-law has some friends that got her into clipping coupons. After a while of hearing her brag about the money she was saving, i sat down with her and asked her how she was doing it. My thinking was, I'm seeing these coupons that are save 25, 50 cents, 1.00, then there are BOGO sales and ect., how much money are you saving? 2 bucks? because that's not much of a difference from 100.00 of groceries. So talking to my sister-in-law and helping her clip out coupons one Sunday afternoon, she laid out her secrets. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention because on my grocery excursion i only saved 4.95. Funny enough that was almost how much i had to pay in taxes. I was hoping to save a little bit more money than that. Well i kind of did, i was shopping at WINCO. I did how ever find a really great bargain at Home Depot! I'm signed up for their garden club and they send me e-mails with coupons in them. In their last email there was a BOGO for a rose bush! so i got 2 rose bushes for 7.95!!! Which worked out so beautifully. We decided that one would go to my mom and one to Cory's mom.
Oh and look what i got for mother's day!! it's my favorite flower! my son and husband are so sweet!

A new BED!!!

I'm so proud of Cory! He built my son's crib all by him self! Doesn't it look incredible? Deven being the perceptive boy that he is, knew what that crib meant. so far he's not adjusting well. I asked my parents for advice and what i gather is slow is good. the only thing is I'm weaning him at the same time. so it's kind of like a double whammy. we'll see how these next few weeks go. The other thing i sensed was to make it a place of fun so he will want to be in there. oh yeah Cory put a "night light" in his crib. It's this huge picture that has water which moves. Deven likes it. What I like about this unique design is we can turn the crib around and it turns into a daybed when Deven gets older and can crawl in and out of it. I love it! I hope Deven warms up to it.

Happy Valentines Day

Cory was a sweetheart and surprised me with flowers! He said it was in support of the Young Women in our ward to go to camp. The stems were insanely long! so I cut them to the right length and put them in a makeshift vase. I put the ribbon that came with the roses around the vase. what do you think? I gave him a home made card and homemade cookies with a cookie jar. I found the cookie recipe from a post a friend posted on facebook. to my surprise and shock it made 52 cookies! I decorated them and everything. I would have posted a picture but he ate them all! I was hoping they would last a while. Well I guess they lasted long for him.

New focus

Lately my new focus has been to develop my talents. Plus! I figure that everybody loves homemade things so... why not go that route? Everyone wins. My cousin just had a baby and I decided to make her some baby booties. Before my son was born i had the same idea. But I was too nervous to try anything to fancy. His were the simplest that i could make with out hurting my self. Like i said I've decided to stretch my self a bit more and... look at the results! I'm so proud of myself! Cory was too! I've been discussing with him how else I could stretch my self. So he took me to his grandmothers who had tons of crocheting books! Oh i was in heaven! so many projects i wanted to start! We even discussed if anyone might buy them? That's future thinking. But when we looked at his grandma's stuff I wanted to get copies of some of the pages. I couldn't wait to start! I wanted to try a hat and look! only problem is, it was meant for an adult woman and instead i accidentally made an infants. oops! oh well it is perfect for a baby doll that i have that my niece likes playing with when she comes over. and it's another thing i can make when i have a daughter. it's better to look on the bright side! =)

A washer and dryer!!!!

YAY!!! We got a washer and dryer yesterday! We've been looking forever for a cheap, nice washer and dryer set. Cory got the idea to look in Rent-a-center. I wasn't sure about it at first. then he told me it is rent to own system. He just wanted to go in and look for prices. We were both getting tired of paying 20 to 25 dollars a pop to do the laudry at the laundry mat. ok, so we walked in and to our imediate right we see this nice set stacked on top of each other on a stand. we were very interested in that one but decided to see what else was there. it turns out that one was a manager's special and the cheapest buy there for the set. get this, $150.!! can you believe it?! i couldn't. we bought it out right, so we own it!!!
