Sometimes my kids do things that touch my heart and make me want to cry. This last Sunday was one of those times. I'm going to get a little churchy now to explain my point. I really don't like bearing my testimony in fast and testimony meeting. I only bear it when I feel like I can not sit still any longer and I feel the spirit so strong. This was how I was feeling. I can't remember the last time I did bear my testimony. I know it's been a couple of  years. But that is ok. Anyway..I whispered into my husband's ear that I was going to go up there. I was hoping to make it through without crying. That was a fail from the beginning, I started crying when I got to stairs. I shared a touching experience that I had in April and how grateful I was for the gospel. I sure hope that they could understand me. When I get down to my family again my son saw that I was still crying and asked if I was ok. I told him that I was ok, just happy. I could tell he was confused. My husband put his arm around me and gave me a kiss. The closing hymn started. Deven wasn't satisfied with my first answer and was still asking if I was ok. I told him I was and gave him a hug. I started putting all the stuff back in the bag that they were playing with. Deven asked one more time if I was ok and I told him I was. He then reached up grabbed my neck and gave me a hug and a kiss. He has never done that before and I felt like crying all over again. I have a sweet boy! I'm so blessed.

Cassie turns one...and happy Valentines Day

We tried really hard to make it a good birthday but we're sick. Also it's a holiday...Cory and I decided that we would celebrate Valentines early so not to ruin her birthday. Don't know how this will affect her in the future. She will probably hate the holiday and or the gifts she gets. But at least we have something in common. :) I share my birthday with Labor Day sometimes and Cory shares his birthday with Columbus Day sometimes too. But those aren't as major as valentines. Anyway, I digress.

We woke up earlier than usual this morning and it wasn't pleasant. Cassie woke up to throwing up. I was on the phone with Cory, talking to him as he came home from work, and I hear Cassie start crying and coughing. I rush in there and she starts throwing up. We have a cold that has mucus. and I think that is why she's been throwing up. Deven has done it a couple of times too.

So I turn her on her tummy and rub her back. Wipe up the spit and hope she goes back to sleep, it's 6 am. No cookies. She's UP. I think she sensed something was up. Cory walks in 2 minutes later and we sing happy birthday to her. (That's a tradition we do, first thing in the morning) She loves her daddy. It's cute, she has this special thing that she does that is apart of cassies personality. She smiles and points at you. Then as a game we point back at her and touch her finger. She giggles at that. So that is what Cassie did as she saw cory and she want to go see him.

I was up but not really. I got lucky that Deven decided that he was done sleeping and I put both of them in the living room to watch T.V. (yes I use the T.V. as a baby sitter) I wanted to sleep next to my husband a little bit. Anyway I wake up 2 hours later at 8 and I go check on them. I'm a light sleeper and I hear everything. What woke me up was they weren't laughing or talking. I go check on them and cassie is asleep and deven is quiet for once. (don't worry, there isn't anything for them to get into in the living room. They do pretty good by themselves, wow this is making me sound like a bad mother)

Anyway cassie wakes up around 11 feeling lots better and we each brunch. She eats her favorite, baby rice cereal mixed with a whole 4 oz jar of baby applesauce. Notice all the hearts she is wearing. My thing with her is to put her in hearts because she is our 'sweatheart'. Like I said before she will probably get sick of that but I'm enjoying it.

The day goes on and I get stuck doing homework. I really wanted to make this day special for her. I get done around 5 and cory told me earlier that he had to go to work early. So I only have 3 hours left with him. I feel bummed out that I didn't get to do what I wanted and I frantically try to get it done. I run to the store and get Cassie's gifts.  I get her stick balloons, I was lucky that they had birthday stuff. Also princess books. She loves books. we had also decided that we would get her a purse of her own so she will stop digging through mine. I don't think that will happen. Another thing that she does that is cute is she says "ooo" or "oooh" and point at the item. She did that with the stick balloons and the presents. She was super excited about the purse.  The Cake was hilarious. I'm so glad that cory got it on video. I'll have to add it to this post when i get it from him. We sang happy birthday and put the cake in front of her. She kept poking her fingers in it. I quickly put some spray whip topping like a frill trim on the top. I thought it looked cute. She was trying to sing along as we were singing to her. Deven I think is having a problem with sister getting all the attention. I also think he remembers his birthday last month. He saw the cake with the "candle" and kept saying "mine". hmm. any way, I dished out her piece and put it on the tray in front of her. It's a tradition also, once they are one they can eat by themselves. And that is just what she did. Her eyes went huge! She put her fingers in it and started shoveling it in. I got some good pictures. I wish I had another SD card for my good camera. We recently used up the spares.

We watched mulan II for a little bit until bed time. I think she enjoyed her birthday. I'm going to try and make it better next year.

3

It's hard to believe that 3 years ago I became a mother. I still remember holding him for the first time after a long labor. I was exhausted because I didn't get much sleep. But there he was, straight from heaven right into my arms. On Saturday the 14, we tried to make that whole day special for him. I was up already because I had a class meeting online at 8 am. I heard him crawling down the hall barking like a dog for fun. (almost as if he could sense the excitement for the day) When he came in the living room we sang happy birthday to him. I hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Then I asked him if he wanted a bath. (His favorite activity in the world!) He had so much fun "swimming" as he calls it. I got him dressed along with cassie. I was going to go get the ingredients for Navajo Tacos. Cory said that he would watch him as he worked on a project that I'll tell about when it's done. So cory set Neve loose to play with Deven and me and Cassie were off. After we came back I found Deven in Neve's dog house. He has this habit of "cleaning" it out.We put straw down for our dog to sleep on when it's cold out. Deven thinks that it doesn't belong in there. So I took him out and got him cleaned up again. About this time my parents showed up. We started cutting stuff up and preparing dough. An hour later people started showing up and everything just came together. The party them was based on Disney's Cars. His favorites are Lightning McQueen and Mater. The decorations centered around those two and so did the games. We played pin the car on Mater's hook so he can tow him. We did the fishing game and a pinata. My sister-in-law made a cute Cars cake that was a race track. This was the first birthday that deven was able to blow out his own candle. After he did that I took the toy cars off the cake and it was funny because he was going to race them around the cake race track! I thought he would do that! After he opened all his gifts we found that we had Cars coming out our ears! I did appreciate the change up of the homemade theater that the Hinojosa's made and the clothes that both grandma's got. We are guilty too because we got him a Cars bicycle. He was super excited to see that. He had a good birthday and loves everything that he got. He especially likes the Mylar balloons that my brothers got him. He takes them by the end of the string and runs with them. He even says "Ready, set, GO!" It's cute!
